Liga MX Femenil: Tigres, Juarez and America Lead the Way

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From LatiNation Futbol Club

Women’s Teams Shine as Tigres, Juárez and América Set the Pace

The contrast between the men’s and women’s teams is striking. While the Tigres and Juárez men have fallen toward the bottom of the table with disappointing performances, Las Amazonas and Las Bravas are competing near the top of Group A.

Tigres sit on 28 points, with Juárez close behind on 24. Tigres have scored far more goals, but Juárez have offset their lower scoring output with an excellent defense. They may not have a Fembi, an Ordoñez or a Reyes, but their strength at the back has given them an opportunity to climb even higher.

Juárez’s success is not a surprise. The team has built momentum over the past few tournaments and made life difficult for both Tigres and América, losing each of those matches by only 1-0. That steady progress has helped Juárez become one of the competition’s strongest teams.

Tigres remain the standard in Liga MX Femenil this season. The competition they are receiving shows the league’s high level, with Tigres, Monterrey, Juárez and Toluca currently occupying Group A’s four qualifying positions.

This is the first time the tournament has used two groups of nine teams, with the top four from each group advancing to the playoffs.

In Group B, defending champions América lead with 28 points and remain one of the league’s most prolific attacking teams. Chivas are also near the top and are trying to prove they can challenge the elite again after already beating América once this calendar year. Atlético de San Luis and Pumas are also in the leading positions.

Chivas recently dominated Necaxa 10-0, leaving Necaxa without a point in the competition. The upcoming match between Atlético de San Luis and América will be important, as Atlético attempt to remain in the qualification places.

Juárez will face Querétaro, while Tigres and Monterrey meet in what could be an early preview of the final. With two of the competition’s best teams facing each other, Tigres were picked to win at home.
