Eagles vs. Commanders: Why Philly Is the Best Bet This Week

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Game Time Decisions

Philadelphia Emerges as the Preferred Side Against Favored Washington

Philadelphia still appears capable of beating Washington, despite concerns about what has happened to the Eagles’ defense. Dallas can make a defense look foolish, but Philadelphia’s offense is also raising questions.

The Eagles do not seem to be opening the playbook for their quarterback. They are not frequently attacking deep or using crossing routes, with much of the offense instead feeling focused on short plays.

Even with those concerns, Washington being favored by nearly a touchdown is a staggering number. At 5.5, 6 or 6.5 points, Philadelphia is the preferred side. The Eagles could even become a favorite pick of the week.

Washington recently looked like a possible sneaky pick to win the division, but that is no longer the view. McLaurin is a major loss and does not receive enough credit for what he means to Washington’s offense. Similarly, Nico Collins makes Houston’s offense go.

Washington also struggled repeatedly to snap the ball while trying to secure a win against the Giants. Based on what the Commanders have shown this season, laying this many points with them is difficult to justify. A line of 2.5 points would be more understandable, though Philadelphia might still be the choice at that number.

Even if Washington ultimately wins and covers, Philadelphia still feels like the right side at this spread.
