Chargers Poised to Improve After Bye Against the Rams

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Game Time Decisions

Chargers Expected to Improve After the Bye

The Chargers enter their matchup with the Rams after a bye week, giving them extra time to make adjustments and try to right the ship. The defense has played well, and the roster has more talent than its record suggests. While an outright victory may be difficult, this is a dangerous spot for the Rams, and the Chargers should deliver a better performance than they did over their first six games.

The Chargers could become one of the NFL’s better betting teams from this point forward as their results begin to normalize. There is no indication that the organization is ready to throw in the towel. Instead, the team can point to close games it gave away and others that got out of hand early.

Omari and Hampton gives the Chargers a talented running back, although fans want to see him used as a workhorse with 25 to 30 carries per game. McDaniel has continued rotating several players, similar to his approach in Miami, but Hampton has a chance to be special.

For the first time in roughly a decade, Justin Herbert has talent on the outside, so the offensive struggles are not solely on him. The Chargers also will not need to do much to cover spreads if they continue receiving large numbers such as seven, nine, 10, 11 or 12 points.

The Chargers may not be the strongest pick of the week, but they are the preferred side in this matchup. They should begin playing much better, and blindly backing them through Week 17 could produce more wins than losses.
