Michigan Looks to Spark a Season Turnaround Against Indiana
Michigan has an opportunity to turn its season around against an Indiana team coming off its first loss in two years. With Bryce Underwood no longer starting, Tommy Carr takes over at quarterback as Michigan enters the matchup as a touchdown underdog.
A victory over the defending national champions could put Michigan back in the conversation and create momentum ahead of its eventual game against Ohio State. It is also a dangerous spot for the Hoosiers after an especially difficult loss. Signetti is considered one of college football’s best coaches and should have his team prepared, but laying more than a touchdown on the road at Michigan feels like a big number.
The total has fallen to 42.5 after opening higher earlier in the week, pointing toward a potentially low-scoring game. Michigan’s challenge will be finding enough offense to score two touchdowns, add a field goal or two and give itself a chance to win. If Indiana exceeds its team total, Michigan may struggle to keep pace.
Carr provided a spark in relief against Penn State, completing five of seven passes for 47 yards while adding 35 rushing yards and one touchdown. Michigan scored 21 unanswered points during the comeback victory. With a strong defense already in place, Carr could provide the offensive lift the team needs.
The matchup may also show how difficult it is for Signetti to assemble national championship-quality players in consecutive years.
