New York and Oklahoma City Emerge as Early NBA Favorites

The NBA season opened with a few potentially surprising results. The Sixers defeated the Knicks 106-100 on the night New York raised its banner.

Going against conventional wisdom, Gilbert selected the Knicks as his favorite to repeat. While New York looked rusty against Philadelphia, he believes the team may have destiny on its side after what it accomplished in last year’s playoffs.

Oklahoma City also made a strong impression against San Antonio. The Thunder appeared to take last year’s Game 7 loss to the Spurs personally, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander looked even better and could be primed for another MVP campaign.

Jarrett McCain is stepping up, and rookie Dave Mara has fit seamlessly into the Thunder lineup after his national championship campaign at Michigan. Once again, Sam Presti appears to have built an impressive Oklahoma City team.
