FIFA Africa Office Inauguration in Rabat and Its Global Impact

FIFA president Gianni Infantino celebrated the official opening of the new FIFA Africa office in Rabat, scheduled for 2025, emphasizing its expected substantial impact on global football. During the ceremony, Infantino highlighted the strategic location of this new hub, the Mohammed VI football complex, stating it as central to both Moroccan and African football, as well as a new nerve center for the sport worldwide.

In his speech, Infantino extended his appreciation to Morocco's King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan Football Federation, led by Fauzi Lekja. He noted the collaborative efforts to advance football in Morocco and the new facility's role in fostering the sport across Africa and beyond. The FIFA Africa office, according to Infantino, is poised to serve as a significant base akin to FIFA's other international offices in Paris, Miami, and Jakarta, enhancing FIFA's connection with its 211 member associations globally.

The president of FIFA also recognized the landmark achievements of Moroccan football, including the men’s national team reaching the World Cup semi-final and the women's team making it to the knockout stages of the FIFA Women's World Cup for the first time. He credited these successes to strategic investments in facilities like the Academie Mohammed VI de Football in Saleh, which have nurtured top-tier talents like Nayef Aguerd and Youssef En-Nesyri.

Praising the efforts of Moroccan football administrator Fauzi Lekja, Infantino acknowledged his roles and contributions not just within Moroccan football but also in his capacities within FIFA, including his involvement in the tri-national bid to host the 2030 World Cup. The event, which will be co-hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, is set to be a Centenary World Cup and is expected to be a substantial celebration.

Concluding his remarks, Infantino expressed optimism about Morocco's potential to shape the future of global football, citing the country's role in hosting upcoming significant events, including the Under-17 Women's World Cup and the 2030 World Cup. The FIFA president affirmed that these developments highlight the unity and collaborative spirit driving the world of football today.
