Steelers-Buccaneers Odds and Bears-Falcons NFL Picks

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Game Time Decisions

Steelers-Bucs Line Sparks Debate as Confidence in the Bears Holds Firm

Tampa Bay’s win over the Dallas Cowboys was not enough to inspire confidence in the Bucs against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers opened as three-point road favorites, but the line moved to 2.5 points, suggesting some market skepticism surrounding Aaron Rodgers and Pittsburgh.

One argument was that Tampa Bay should not be dismissed after beating one of the NFL’s best offenses. A Bucs win over Pittsburgh, combined with a Philadelphia victory against Carolina, could put Tampa Bay back into the division conversation.

The opposing view was that the line represented a major overreaction to Tampa Bay’s best win of the season. If the Bucs had lost to Dallas by three points, Pittsburgh might have been favored by five or six. There was no interest in backing Tampa Bay after that victory, with the expectation that Watt could have his way in a low-scoring game resembling how the Bucs played a few weeks earlier.

Dallas was also described as a fraudulent team that follows the same pattern every season: losing unexpectedly, winning enough games to restore confidence and then losing again. Tampa Bay received credit for beating Dallas, but that result was not viewed as proof that the Bucs could defeat Pittsburgh.

There was still hesitation about backing the Steelers. Questions remained about trusting Rodgers on the road in Tampa Bay’s heat, particularly in an AFC-versus-NFC matchup. The game was compared to Pittsburgh’s earlier meeting with Cincinnati, when the Steelers won despite entering as 3.5-point underdogs, although that was also a divisional rivalry.

The discussion then shifted to whether the Chicago Bears are fraudulent or capable of beating the Atlanta Falcons as 3.5-point favorites. Despite uncertainty created by their current position and a particularly poor performance the previous week, confidence remained that Chicago could finish the season with one of the NFL’s best offenses and emerge as one of its best teams.

Atlanta remained difficult to evaluate, while Pennox Jr. was expected to play, setting up a matchup between two young franchise quarterbacks in Caleb Williams and Pennox Jr. Both have plenty of weapons around them.

Defensive concerns exist on both sides. Montez Sweat’s PED suspension was described as strange at this point in the season, and Chicago’s defense remains worrying. However, the Atlanta Falcons’ defense creates similar concerns.
