Jets’ Struggles Shape Betting Debate Against the Chiefs
The Jets have been a major disappointment. While expectations were not particularly high entering the season, winning around six games seemed possible based on the roster. Instead, they now look like one of the worst teams in the NFL and could be chasing the first pick in the draft.
The defense has been especially troubling. It was expected to improve, but its performance has been horrible. Geno, meanwhile, has played reasonably well and has looked better than he did with Seattle.
The Jets’ ability to score creates an interesting betting decision against Kansas City. The total is 47.5, but the concern with taking the over is that the Chiefs could build a three-score lead before relying heavily on the running game in the third and fourth quarters.
Kansas City is favored by 9.5 points at home. That spread suggests the Jets could remain competitive enough to cover. If the line were closer to 12.5 or 13 points, it would indicate a potential blowout. At fewer than 10 points, the Jets plus 9.5 is the preferred side.
The rushing props also deserve attention. Breece Hall’s number is 40.5 yards, while Braelon Allen’s is 32.5. Kenneth Walker’s rushing total is 90.5 yards, although patience may be warranted after he showed some signs of slowing down over the past couple of weeks against much better defenses. Emmett Johnson and his numbers are also very interesting.
