Jalen Hurts' Injury Raises Questions for Eagles' Future

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Outspoken With Dan Sileo

Jalen Hurts’ Health Situation Raises Questions About the Eagles’ Future

Jalen Hurts is expected to miss the remainder of the year, raising concerns about both his health and the Philadelphia Eagles’ handling of the situation.

According to a letter from Nicole Linn of Clutch Sports, Hurts was in the hospital for four hours before the game and was advised not to sleep for 36 hours. However, he was allowed to play, fly back with the team and practice for two more days before being shut down last Wednesday.

While neither speaker claimed medical expertise, both described the circumstances as troubling. They emphasized the seriousness of blood clots and wished Hurts the best as he deals with the issue.

His absence also creates uncertainty for an Eagles team already dealing with several injuries. Tanner McKee is viewed as having long-term upside, but he remains an inexperienced young quarterback who has not looked great in limited action.

The larger question may be what happens to Nick Siriani. The Eagles have not lived up to expectations since their Super Bowl win, and the organization previously moved on from Doug Peterson fairly quickly after he won a championship.

Hurts is expected to remain with the team despite questions about the nonguaranteed money in his contract and his performance. If changes are made after the season, they are more likely to come on the coaching side. Siriani’s seat could continue to heat up unless he gets the Eagles back on track and convinces the organization that he remains the right coach to lead the team.
