Bears Eye a Bounce-Back Against Atlanta as Eagles Face Pressure Against Carolina
The Bears face an intriguing matchup with the Falcons. Bijan Robinson is an MVP candidate and an exceptionally complete running back because of how he runs, protects the football and catches passes out of the backfield.
The Bears could be well positioned for a bounce-back performance. Atlanta scored 40 points in back-to-back games and has looked like an offensive juggernaut, while Chicago was soundly beaten by the Packers with Tyson Bagent starting. Despite those recent results, the Bears enter as roughly 3 to 3.5-point favorites.
That line could indicate that Caleb Williams will return. If he does, Chicago may have an opportunity to take advantage of Atlanta’s defense, particularly in the secondary. Williams’ status will be worth monitoring as the week progresses, but the line suggests he could play.
The Eagles’ matchup with the Panthers also presents an interesting line, with Philadelphia favored by only 1.5 points at home. That number could move closer to a pick’em by Sunday.
Bryce Young has been playing well, and the Panthers looked impressive before their bye. Meanwhile, the Eagles have struggled over the past three weeks. The line raises a clear question: Why is Philadelphia favored?
Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith are expected to return, which would help the Eagles offensively. However, those returns do not solve the problems on defense, and Nick Sirianni needs to coach the team better.
This could be a buy-low opportunity for Philadelphia, but the eye test favors Carolina. It is also an important early-season test for the Panthers, who must prove themselves on the road in a difficult Philadelphia environment.
If the Eagles lose by one or two touchdowns and are not competitive, Sirianni’s seat could become much hotter. Dan Quinn and Jim Harbaugh were also mentioned among coaches facing growing pressure.
Jalen Hurts could face questions as well because he does not have guaranteed money entering next year and only has 20 on the contract. A post-June 1 move has been discussed, creating the possibility of major turnover. With the trading deadline on November 10, it also remains unclear whether the Eagles will be buyers or sellers. After four years of significant success, this is an important game for Philadelphia.
