Undefeated: Predicting the 1st NFL Loss
Predicting the 1st Loss for the NFL's 3 Remaining Undefeated Teams

Three NFL teams remain undefeated, but staying perfect all season is one of the league’s toughest challenges. Here’s a look at each undefeated team as we move into Week 6 of the NFL season. We’re looking ahead at each team’s schedule to predict the matchup that will hand them their first loss.
Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings are off to an impressive 5-0 start and now hold sole possession of first place in the NFC North. The Vikings defense has been the league's best so far this season, allowing just 64 points in the first five games, 42 since Week 1.

Minnesota Vikings Team Profile:
- Head Coach: Kevin O’Connell
- Offensive Coordinator: Wes Phillips
- Defensive Coordinator: Brian Flores
- Stadium: U.S. Bank Stadium
Vikings' First Loss: November 1st at Lions (Week 8)

The Vikings offense has struggled this season, squeaking by the Miami Dolphins with just 15 points and ranking 31st in total yards per game at 262.8. Detroit’s offense is more explosive, averaging 29.8 points per game and 389.3 yards per game. This divisional matchup will be Minnesota’s toughest test of the season, and I expect the Lions to win a high-scoring shootout.
San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers are 5-0, with three double-digit wins over the Rams, Dolphins, and Broncos. The 49ers offense has scored 154 points. Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, and George Kittle will look to stay healthy and lead the 49ers back to the Super Bowl.

San Francisco 49ers Team Profile
- Head Coach: Kyle Shanahan
- Offensive Coordinator: Klay Kubiak
- Defensive Coordinator: Raheem Morris
- Stadium: Levi’s Stadium
49ers' First Loss: November 29th at Seahawks (Week 12)

The 49ers really struggled with the Seahawks last year, getting dominated 41-6 in the NFC divisional round. While San Fran came out on top again in their Week 5 divisional matchup, we don't see a clean sweep. Remember the 49ers allowed 116 yards and three rushing touchdowns to Kenneth Walker in that playoff game, and Seattle will look for the same success with rookie Jadarian Price later in the season.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are 4-0 and looking to bounce back after missing the playoffs last year for the first time since 2014. Patrick Mahomes is fully recovered from his torn ACL, and the Chiefs have scored 30+ points in three of the first four weeks.

Kansas City Chiefs Team Profile
- Head Coach: Andy Reid
- Offensive Coordinator: Eric Bieniemy
- Defensive Coordinator: Steve Spagnuolo
- Stadium: Arrowhead Stadium
Chiefs' First Loss: October 25th at Seahawks (Week 7)

The Chiefs head to Seattle in Week 7 to face the reigning Super Bowl Champions on Sunday Night Football. Patrick Mahomes and the offense will face an elite Seahawks defense that has allowed just 17 points in the first two weeks. I expect Sam Darnold and the Seahawks to outlast the Chiefs in this exciting primetime matchup.
