Joe Cervenka

Host · Writer

With just one week left in the regular season, the NFC Championship picture is finally coming into focus. Week 17 delivered chaos, eliminated a former favorite, and sent futures odds swinging across the board as teams jockey for seeding, byes, and survival.

Going into the NFL’s regular season finale, here’s how the NFC Championship odds and rankings stack up.

NFC Teams Eliminated From the Playoffs Before Week 17

Detroit Lions – Eliminated in Week 17

NFC Championship Winner Previous Week’s Odds: +12500 –> This Week’s Odds: OTB

Already a postseason longshot going into their Christmas Day matchup in Minnesota, the Detroit Lions’ offense took the day off, and the line couldn’t protect Jared Goff. The result: a 23-10 shocker, and the one-time NFC favorites becoming the eighth team eliminated from the conference title race.

Will head coach Dan Campbell survive the massive slip?

8) Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NFC Championship Winner Previous Week’s Odds: +2700 –> This Week’s Odds: +8000

The second-half slide of the 2025 NFL season has the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on life support at 7-9. Tampa has dropped seven of its past eight games, with only wins over the lowly Cardinals and Saints since Week 8. During that skid, the Bucs dropped a crucial game at Carolina and now face a must-win situation even to have a shot at the NFL’s dullest division crown.

A Buccaneers win kicks the scenario into tiebreaker chaos, sending you straight to the fine print of the NFL rulebook. Tampa would then need a favor from New Orleans, despite the Saints already being eliminated, to knock off an Atlanta team that’s also out of the picture. If the Falcons keep rolling and make it four straight wins just six days after taking down the Rams, they pull the rug out from under Tampa’s playoff hopes. That outcome leaves Tampa Bay, Atlanta, and New Orleans deadlocked at 8–9, with Carolina owning the best head-to-head mark in the NFC South and sneaking through.

7) Carolina Panthers

NFC Championship Winner Previous Week’s Odds: +8000 –> This Week’s Odds: +5000

For the Carolina Panthers, it’s as simple as beat TB – jam done.

6) Green Bay Packers

NFC Championship Winner Previous Week’s Odds: +750 –> This Week’s Odds: +950

For the second consecutive week, the Green Bay Packers have seen their NFC Championship odds slide. Locked into the No. 7 seed, it’s hard to imagine many starters seeing much playing time on Sunday. Jordan Love remains in concussion protocol after missing last week’s loss to the visiting Ravens. The Pack has no reason to hurry their franchise quarterback to the field this week, knowing they will be on the road in either San Francisco or Seattle.

The oddsmakers concur as Green Bay is a +5.5-point road dog in Minneapolis.

Week 18 Opponent: at Minnesota Vikings

5) Chicago Bears

NFC Championship Winner Previous Week’s Odds: +750 –> This Week’s Odds: +850

The Chicago Bears have been the NFC’s answer to the New England Patriots turnaround across the conference-verse. Caleb Williams has been showing doubters why the Bears took him as the No. 1 pick in 2024, and Ben Johnson has this team humming. The Bears have won seven of their past nine, and warding off the NFC Championship preseason favorite, who would love to play spoiler, is next on the agenda. Chicago’s golf-course-bound NFC North rivals will try to keep the Bears from the No. 2 seed as +3-point road dogs.

Week 18 Opponent: vs Detroit Lions

4) Philadelphia Eagles

NFC Championship Winner Previous Week’s Odds: +460 –> This Week’s Odds: +490

Maybe the Super Bowl hangover is real. It’s been an odd year for the Philadelphia Eagles, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Some weeks, the offense is churning like a well-oiled machine; others, they have zero yards passing in a half. The latter happened in rainy Buffalo last week, where the Eagles just hung on to pick up a 13-12 win.

Despite the uneven season, Philly still has a legit shot at the No. 2 seed with some help, as long as they can beat their long-time division rival as -3.5 home favorites.

Week 18 Opponent: vs Washington Commanders

3) San Francisco 49ers

NFC Championship Winner Previous Week’s Odds: +650 –> This Week’s Odds: +440

Riddled by injuries on both sides of the ball and once an afterthought in the NFC, the San Francisco 49ers have an excellent shot at the top seed, first-round bye, and the franchise’s 23rd division title. Considering what this team has gone through, a win-and-take-all scenario at home as -1.5-point favorites has to exceed expectations.

Week 18 Opponent: vs Seattle Seahawks

2) Los Angeles Rams

NFC Championship Winner Previous Week’s Odds: +250 –> This Week’s Odds: +310

The Los Angeles Rams ended their chance at the conference’s No. 1 seed after a shocking loss to the visiting Atlanta Falcons on Monday night. Now, it will be either the fifth or the sixth, opening on the road. It’s not all bad, though, as a matchup with the NFC South winner could be in the cards. Before then, LA has to beat the bottom of the NFC West as a -7.5 home favorite to have a shot at getting Tampa or Carolina in the wild card round.

Week 18 Opponent: vs Arizona Cardinals

1) Seattle Seahawks

NFC Championship Winner Previous Week’s Odds: +310 –> This Week’s Odds: +250

The Seattle Seahawks overtake the Rams atop our NFC power rankings. Seattle has won six straight, and a seventh would clinch the No. 1 seed, first-round bye, and the division crown.

Flip a coin in this one, with Seattle as +1.5-point road dogs against their NFC West rivals.
