10 Most Overrated Teams in College Football Going Into Week 3

10. Florida Gators
All of a sudden, the Florida Gators are getting votes in the AP and Coaches Poll. Voters could soon regret their positions.

Florida deserves no credit for its win over Campbell. They failed to cover the spread, were outpossessed, and still allowed the Fighting Camels to convert 5 of 18 third downs. That strengthens our concerns following their Week 1 performance, in which the Gators allowed FAU to go off for 21 points on 400 yards.

Florida begins its conference schedule in Week 3. With road games against Auburn, Mizzou, and Texas on the horizon, we're betting this is the pinnacle of their season.
1. Oklahoma Sooners
It didn't take long for the Oklahoma Sooners to fall into old habits. After crushing UTEP in Week 1, Oklahoma vaulted to 11th in the AP Poll. After last week's disastrous loss to Michigan, they don't deserve to be there at all.

Oklahoma tends to fall flat at the most untimely moments, and Week 2 is a perfect example. The Sooners mustered just 289 yards of total offense against the Wolverines, turning the ball over twice and letting Michigan hold onto the football for over 33 minutes. Most concerningly, their offensive line was eaten up by a ferocious Wolverines' front. Oklahoma gained just 100 rushing yards and allowed three sacks.

John Mateer faces an uphill battle trying to lead the Sooners back into the playoff picture. But with at least one more implosion on the horizon, Oklahoma is more likely destined for a meaningless bowl game.
2. Penn State Nittany Lions
The college football world loves the Penn State Nittany Lions so much that it is willing to give them credit for work they haven't done yet.

Penn State is off to a 2-0 start, breezing past Marshall in the season opener before meeting resistance against Temple last time out. In that contest, they gave up nearly 300 yards of offense, lost the time-of-possession battle, and failed to cover the -23.5 spread in a 27-9 win.

The most damning part of the Nittany Lions' performance is that they failed to reach the offensive heights the betting market expected. With the total set at 50.5, Penn State was projected to score a lot more points than the 27 it put up.

Penn State is undeserving of the hype.
3. Texas Longhorns
Enjoy it while it lasts, Texas Longhorns; your position atop the AP Poll will be short-lived.

Inarguable, Texas mounted the most impressive comeback of the college football season. Down 23-3 entering the fourth quarter, the Longhorns scored 21 unanswered to stun the top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. But this was more about Ohio State beating itself than Texas earning the win. A missed OSU field goal with minutes to play could have yielded a very different result.

In the end, Texas put up just 336 yards of offense at home, fumbled the ball four times, and needed a missed field goal to secure the win.

Are the Longhorns a great football team? Unquestionably. Are they the best team in the country? Definitely not.
4. USC Trojans
The USC Trojans were one of the most hyped teams coming into the season. Despite their 3-0 record, we've been disappointed by their performances.

While the Trojans have enjoyed unbridled offensive success against Group of 6 foes, their defense leaves a lot to be desired. They gave up 30 points to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, with the San Jose State Spartans also hanging 26 on them. That may suffice in the non-conference portion of their schedule, but that won't work against their Big Ten brethren.

Enjoy it while it lasts, USC. We're predicting a fall from grace as soon as the Trojans start their conference schedule.
5. Louisville Cardinals
The Louisville Cardinals gave Ole Miss all it could handle to kick off the season, and manhandled Villanova last time out. Still, the underlying concerns persist, and we're still not sold on this team as a contender.

Lincoln Kienholz has been a revelation under center. He shredded the Rebels' championship-caliber defense and performed as expected against Villanova. Defensively, we're not sure the Cardinals can hold up throughout the rest of their schedule. They were torched for almost 500 yards in Week 1, and let Villanova hang 250 yards on them while controlling possession.

Louisville will be tested in three of the next four weeks. Based on their spot in our rankings, we don't think they pass the test.
6. Washington Huskies
Putting up just 16 points as -28.5 chalk tells us everything we need to know about the Washington Huskies.

Jedd Fisch's squad was completely unprepared for the Utah State Aggies. Washington garnered just 350 yards of total offense, looking atrocious in both the run and pass games. Demond Williams completed 26 of 41 pass attempts for 249 yards, while the Huskies combined for 107 yards on 33 carries.

Washington didn't look like a ranked team on Saturday. Appropriately, they were cast from the AP Poll, but this team is still overrated.
7. Arizona State Sun Devils
This is the Arizona State Sun Devils team we expected. A week after trouncing Morgan State, the Sun Devils were humbled by the Texas A&M Aggies. Still listed as a +2000 contender in the Big 12, ASU has a lot of work to do to repair its tarnished reputation.

The Sun Devils were up to the task defensively, but the offensive holes are glaring. The departures of Sam Leavitt and Raleek Brown have left this offense rudderless and the Sun Devils unprepared to compete in the Big 12. Arizona State turned the ball over four times on Saturday, converting just 3 of 12 third downs.

Until their offense starts to perform, this isn't a team we can take seriously.
8. Clemson Tigers
The Clemson Tigers are desperately trying to repair their image. Sadly, their Week 2 performance against Georgia Southern did nothing to rectify the issues.

Clemson entered the non-conference tilt as -20.5 favorites. With just 347 yards of offense and 22 points to show for their efforts, the Tigers only validated the preseason apprehensions. At the same time, Georgia Southern put up a respectable 266 yards as the visitors, outpacing the Tigers in third-down conversion and passing yards.

Clemson is now 0-2 against the spread, missing both by a combined 37 points. They may be favored against North Carolina in Week 3, but they don't deserve to be.
9. Wisconsin Badgers
Let's be honest, the Wisconsin Badgers haven't garnered much attention in the Big Ten these days. Still, they opened as -23.5 favorites over Eastern Michigan, and we think that's a perilous position to take.

The Badgers could be the most overrated program in the country. This is a team that was crushed by Notre Dame to open the season, following that up with a worse-than-expected win over Western Illinois in Week 2. Most recently, Wisconsin gave up over 300 yards to their FCS counterparts, falling well short of the -43.5 spread and 52.5 total. Shockingly, the Badgers narrowly crossed the 25-minute mark in time of possession.

It's time for Luke Fickell to go. Until that happens, Wisconsin has a spot on our list.
