To be fair, the short two-year term keeps the long-term damage minimal for the Clippers, but paying $14 million a year for a guy of his abilities seems like a whole lot of money for modest production.

8. Quentin Grimes | Los Angeles Lakers
Contract: 4 Years, $60,000,000

Quentin Grimes benefits from front offices overpaying for theoretical 3-and-D wing depth. While Grimes flashes solid perimeter defensive moments, his offensive impact fluctuates wildly depending on his three-point accuracy. Giving $15 million a year to a player who struggles to create his own shot or make plays off the bounce leaves the Lakers paying premium prices for a replaceable rotation player.

5. Walker Kessler | Los Angeles Lakers
Contract: 4 Years, $129,467,930

Walker Kessler is a solid rim-protecting big body who does what he does well, but the total investment to bring him to Hollywood is mind-boggling. Not only did the Lakers shell out nearly $130 million on a long-term deal for a center with limited offensive range, but they also surrendered a massive package of draft picks to Utah just to get the deal done. Paying over $32 million annually for a non-spacing center in today's perimeter-driven league is a massive financial risk.

4. Austin Reaves | Los Angeles Lakers

While Reaves has certainly developed into a craftier secondary playmaker, throwing max-level money at a guard who isn't a lockdown two-way force seriously limits LA's roster flexibility in a brutal second-apron tax landscape.
