Jack Doohan's 2026: From F1 Challenges to Haas Lifeline

Jack Doohan's 2026: From F1 Challenges to Haas Lifeline

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From The Inside Line

Jack Doohan's Journey from Formula 1 to Haas Reserve Role

Jack Doohan's transition from the 2025 Formula 1 season to his current role depicts a significant evolution. Originally starting with Alpine for his second F1 start at the Australian Grand Prix, he engaged in pre-race media activities, including an interaction with the Carlton Australian rules football club. Doohan expressed his enjoyment of the cultural exchange, stating, "It's been a great experience, and I'm super happy to be here and to come into your world."

Unfortunately, just after six starts over two months, Doohan's journey with Alpine ended as he was replaced by Franco Colopinto. Colopinto secured a 2026 extension, supported by sponsors from his native Argentina, celebrating, "I'm very grateful to all the Argentinians for the support. Now let's get to work and have a great '26 together." Meanwhile, Doohan faced further setbacks when he crashed three times in two days during a Super Formula car trial in Japan at Suzuka's Degna corners.

Looking ahead to 2026, Doohan has pivoted to a reserve driver role with the American team, Haas. While he can no longer participate as an inexperienced driver for Formula 1 Practice 1 sessions, he is expected to spend time in private tests for Haas and possibly compete in the European Le Mans Series, aiming for the Le Mans 24 hours. Despite these challenges, Doohan remains determined. Reflecting on his journey from finishing third in the 2023 Formula 2 championship, Doohan views the upcoming year as crucial to his aspirations of returning to Formula 1.
