Brewers vs. Dodgers: Why Milwaukee Has the Betting Edge

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Game Time Decisions

Brewers’ Bullpen Advantage Makes Plus-Money Price Against the Dodgers Hard to Ignore

The Brewers named Robert Gasser as the starter for the next game, signaling that they could lean heavily on their bullpen. On the other side, Blake Snell faces tremendous pressure in what could be the biggest game of his career outside of the World Series.

Despite losing twice to Milwaukee, Los Angeles is listed around -175 at home, while the Brewers are approximately +150. That price makes Milwaukee difficult to ignore, especially given how much better the Brewers have looked through the first two games.

Milwaukee also saw nine different Dodgers relievers in the previous game. If Snell cannot provide significant length, Los Angeles will have to return to a bullpen the Brewers have already seen extensively. Snell records plenty of strikeouts, but that can make it difficult for him to work through five or six innings.

If the game is tied after the fifth or sixth inning, Milwaukee can turn to Uribe, Ashby, and McGill. The Brewers’ pitching advantage becomes even more significant in a close game if their offense can produce a late run.

The first two games could not have gone much better for Milwaukee. The Brewers reached the Dodgers’ bullpen in both games and saw nearly every available arm. If Los Angeles needs another early bullpen game before starting Glasnow in Game 4, the advantage remains with Milwaukee.

Snell has looked as dominant as any pitcher in the big leagues when healthy this season, so it is understandable that Los Angeles is favored at home. However, a price around -170 appears steep for a team that has looked significantly worse. Unless Snell delivers seven shutout innings and gives the Dodgers’ bullpen a chance to reset, the lean is toward Milwaukee.
