Brewers End Dodgers' Run With Dominant NLCS Victory

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Outspoken With Dan Sileo

Dodgers Fall Short as Brewers Capitalize on Postseason Struggles

The Dodgers appeared to run out of gas after several deep postseason runs, while the Brewers played as well as any team in recent memory.

The Dodgers picked a bad week to have a bad week. They struggled with runners in scoring position throughout the postseason, including a 2-for-11 performance in the final game. In two consecutive innings, they had a runner on third with fewer than two outs and failed to bring him home. Dodgers hitters chased pitches, while Milwaukee capitalized on its opportunities.

The Brewers deserve credit for their season and their performance against the two-time defending champions. Their advanced scouting and analytics personnel also contributed greatly to the series victory. After winning four straight and overcoming a four-run deficit in the final game, Milwaukee advanced to its first World Series since 1982 and its first as a National League team.

Shohei Ohtani showed signs of returning to form when he lined a single up the middle and later hit a three-run home run. Even with flashes from the best player in the world, it was not enough for the Dodgers to finish the comeback.

Overall, reaching the National League Championship Series still made it a very good season. Expectations remain much higher among Dodgers fans because of the team’s recent success. Since 2017, the Dodgers have made several World Series appearances, losing to Houston and Boston before winning in 2020, 2024 and 2025.

The idea that the Dodgers are simply too old may not tell the full story, but they did appear fatigued in certain areas. Many players have logged a tremendous amount of baseball over the past three years. They opened consecutive seasons in Korea and Japan, played deep into the postseason and also had the World Baseball Classic mixed into that stretch.

The earlier finish should give players time to rest and receive any medical attention they need. Regardless of how the roster looks, the Dodgers should remain among the favorites next season. Their core includes Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow, giving them several strong pieces for 2027.
