Scottie Scheffler Ends Long PGA Tour Cut Streak at Scottish Open

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From The Smylie Kaufman Show

Scotty Scheffler's Notable Cut Streak Ends

Scotty Scheffler's impressive streak of consecutive made cuts recently came to an end, marking a significant moment in PGA Tour history. Scheffler, who had successfully made 78 straight cuts, notably had the fifth-longest streak in the tour's history, finishing this recent event at even par through 36 holes, just two shots shy of the cut line. This list of consecutive cuts is topped by revered names like Hale Irwin, Jack Nicklaus, Byron Nelson, and Tiger Woods, placing Scheffler in esteemed company. His last missed cut prior to this was at the 2022 FedEx St. Jude.

Matt Fitzpatrick now holds the record for the longest current streak of made cuts on the PGA Tour, with 28 consecutive cuts. Xander Schaffly, another golfer who was on a long streak, similarly saw his run of 72 consecutive cuts end earlier in January.

This season has been mixed for Scheffler, despite some stellar performances. He won his first start of the year at the AME and has accumulated four runner-up finishes, including a recent playoff loss to Victor Hovland at the Travelers. Overall, he has achieved nine top 5 finishes in 14 starts this year. However, Scheffler’s latest missed cut highlights what some have perceived as a bizarre season, raising questions about whether his year has lived up to expectations.

Despite fluctuations in his game, Scheffler has shown strong form at times, including excellent performances at the Travels Championship and the US Open. His ability to bounce back from challenges, like a less precise iron game noted after his recent round, continues to underscore his resilience and skill on the tour.
