Election Night Prediction Markets & Governor Races

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Game Time Decisions

Early Election Reports Create Potential Opportunities in Prediction Markets

Close governor races could shift prediction markets within minutes. In Florida, a single early report favoring either Jolly or Donalds could produce prices that were unavailable before election night, creating a potential opportunity to enter the market.

Kalshi’s probabilities were changing quickly. The Democrats’ chance of controlling the Senate moved from 74% to 80% in roughly 30 minutes without the outcome being decided. Someone who entered earlier could potentially exit after that increase, demonstrating how the focus is on capturing changing margins and percentages.

The House market did not appear worth pursuing at prices around 93% or 95% because the available margin was unclear.

The Texas Senate market was another race that could change the broader picture. Kalshi listed Democrat James Talarico at 80% and Ken Paxton at 20%, with Talarico’s probability higher than it had been at the beginning of the show.

With less than 45 minutes remaining before polls closed on the East Coast, the markets required constant refreshing. Kalshi and Polymarket also offered markets on whether the next president of the United States would be a Democrat or Republican. Although the candidates will not be known for another two years, election-night results could provide a better indication of each party’s potential position.
