2026 College Baseball Top 25 Rankings Update: Week 3

Arizona State, while on the outside looking in, has played some fantastic baseball this season, including this week where they faced arguably the hardest schedule of anyone over a full calendar week. Cole Carlon is every bit of an ace, and there are a lot of pieces to be excited about.

Arizona finally appears to have righted the ship this weekend. Kicking off with a 7-2 loss to Oregon, the Wildcats bounced back with two straight wins over Vanderbilt and a red-hot UC Irvine team

Amegy Bank College Baseball
Closing out week three of the college baseball season, we got arguably the game of the year in Arlington between #1 UCLA and #5 Mississippi State, a subtle foreshadowing of what could easily be the CWS finals this year.

I personally was in Arlington covering the Amegy Bank College Baseball series and saw some incredible top-25 teams go at it all weekend. Let’s jump into it, as we’re finally approaching the time where the rankings start to feel more solidified with larger sample sizes against better competition.

The Bruins Don’t Stop
UCLA continues to roll. They go 3-0 in Arlington, taking down the trio of SEC teams in Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Mississippi State in the heavyweight matchup of the weekend, winning 8-7 in extra innings fueled by a two-run Roch Chowlosky home run.

Head Coach of Texas A&M, Michael Earley, said it best this weekend: “This lineup just doesn’t stop.” Right, he was.
Biggest Risers
While we were initially lower on Florida than most, a 2-0 sweep over Miami on the road was all we needed to see. Liam Peterson looked the part, and the Gators' offense was firing on all cylinders. Brendan Lawson needs to be talked about in the SEC Player of the Year conversation, as he continues to produce at an unbelievable rate, already with 21 RBI in just 12 games.

USC is new to the rankings this week, as they nearly completed their second no-hitter of the season against Cal Poly this weekend. The rotation for the Trojans has been untouchable, holding a minuscule 1.45 team ERA so far this year.

UTSA also found their way in this week after receiving votes last week, putting together another impressive weekend by taking down Ohio State, Coastal Carolina, and Baylor. Well deserving of a spot with their impressive 8-1 start to the season.
Biggest Sliders
Oregon State yet again slides, this time out of our rankings after a 2-1 weekend and taking two more one-run victories. While the pitching continues to be a force to be reckoned with, the team .663 OPS is glaring for the Beavers. They’ll look to bounce back against in-state rival Oregon on Tuesday.

Arkansas takes a further slide in our ranks as they lost games to Arkansas State and UT Arlington this week. While the pitching continues to impress, there are major red flags with the offense; They’ve struck out 113 times, a 29% clip. Now, the pitching staff can certainly carry this Hogs team, but the peaks and valleys of the offense are cause for concern.

Kentucky just missed the cut this week. The loss of Tyler Bell continues to be huge for the Wildcats despite the boat staying steady so far.

Alabama has been a very tricky team to track this season, playing a lot of hot-and-cold baseball coming off a week where they lost to Southern Miss and Houston but beat Oregon State. When this team is clicking, they’re extremely dangerous. But we need to see more consistency from the Tide.
