Controversial Ban: Claressa Shields Barred from MVP Events After Backstage Altercation
Most Valuable Promotions has permanently barred undisputed women's heavyweight champion Claressa Shields from participating in all future events. The decision follows an incident that occurred backstage involving Shields and unified junior lightweight champion Alicia Baumgartner. The altercation took place at the Inuit Dome during the show titled "World Star," where both athletes were seen exchanging heated words. The situation escalated when Shields slapped Baumgartner.
In response, Most Valuable Promotions announced on their Twitter account that Shields would be banned from all their events effective immediately. The promotion emphasised that while fighter banter is a part of the sport, physically attacking another athlete, especially in the presence of guests in a private VIP area, is deemed unacceptable.
