Zonko is a new US sweepstakes casino I’ve been testing, and to kick things off, I’ve created a Zonko promo code guide where I analyze the different Gold Coin (GC) and Sweeps Coin (SC) bonuses this site offers.
My first impressions were great as when I signed up I got a lump sum of virtual currencies, plus had the option of purchasing some discounted GC packages that also granted prize wheel spins. If you read on though, you can learn about these features in more detail, and I’ll also look at other things like the Star system.
First up before we look at the Zonko signup bonus, you need to know how the virtual currencies work. There’s two of them – Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins, and they do the following:

The first thing I got when signing up to this sweepstakes casino was the Zonko signup offer. Similar to other social casinos, this includes a small lump sum of virtual currencies, plus some discounted Gold Coin packages that you can consider purchasing.
When I logged in after making my account, I got 3,000 Gold Coins added to my balance as an initial Zonko signup bonus. This is OK, but it’s not the biggest amount of virtual currencies I’ve had. I usually expect at least 7,500 GC and 2 SC from the welcome bonus, so I think this has room for improvement. You can get good playability from it though, as most of the games have a minimum play value of 100 GC, while the Playson slots have a minimum play value as low as 0.20 GC.
The initial welcome bonus was decent, but for me, the best part of this bonus are the four discounted Gold Coin packages you can purchase:
I purchased the $20.00 GC package, and with my prize wheel spin, I got 7 Sweeps Coins – the maximum potential you can get is 15 SC which I think is brilliant. I think if you wanted to make GC purchases here, you would start with the $20 package, as it gives you the initial virtual currency boost, the prize wheel spin, plus an 8-day power boost of 25 free bonus SC and 52,000 Gold Coins. It’s easily one of the best-value Gold Coin packages that I’ve seen.

It’s one of the easier signup processes I’ve had, and I like that you don’t have to complete the full KYC check until you are ready to make SC cash prize redemptions. When I logged in for the first time, I was given my 3,000 Gold Coins. I also got a few pop-ups showing me the discounted Gold Coin package offers. To find them, open the store by clicking on the “Buy Coins” button on the left-hand side – you should clearly be able to see the four special packages.
After the Zonko signup bonus, I checked the site and saw plenty of other bonuses and promotions including a VIP program, daily login bonus, and site-wide progressive jackpot feature.
This is a feature that more and more social casinos are adding and I love it. The progressive jackpot feature at Zonko is something that you can opt into when playing specific slot games. When you load the game, you will see the three different jackpot bonuses at the bottom, plus the piggy bank. The piggy bank is like a rakeback feature where it steadily builds up as you play games.
Alternatively, if you opt into the jackpot feature, you have the chance of randomly triggering one of the three prizes on any spin. From my experience, the top prize is often as much as 1,000 Sweeps Coins which is awesome. I’ve had the Mini jackpot prize once which gave me 5.75 SC. The only thing I wasn’t sure of was how much you contribute per spin to the prize pool – the explanation isn’t clear on this.
If you want a fun gamification feature then you can try and complete the daily missions this site has. I had fun trying these out, and you have to do different things like making GC purchases, playing specific games, and working your way up leaderboard rankings. There is A LOT to get stuck into, and I recommend reading each of the daily missions first before you start playing. In terms of potential prizes, there’s GC, SC, and Stars up for grabs.
Zonko Casino also has the standard mail-in bonus that I’ve seen at countless other sweepstakes casinos. This is a promotion you can enter to potentially get a 3 SC bonus. The instructions are found in section 4 of the sweepstakes rules page under the Alternative Method Of Entry heading. You have to write a postcard with some unique info and a message, and post it to the Zonko address. Please make sure you follow the instructions perfectly as I’ve had mail-in requests rejected before for something as simple as using the wrong ink color!
This new sweepstakes casino also has a standard daily login bonus that you can get once per 24 hours. You can find it by clicking on the bonuses link in the main menu which opens the bonus pop-up box. Click the icon that looks like a treasure chest from the top menu and you will see your daily bonus track. Every day you can open a chest which can contain Stars, Gold Coins, or Sweeps Coins. I’ve used this plenty of times and it has given me a steady stream of items that have allowed me to continue enjoying the games here.
Instead of a standard VIP program or loyalty scheme, Zonko offers a system that includes Stars which both contribute to your VIP rank, but can be used to make purchases in the Star Store. You can get stars by playing games with your GC and SC, by completing daily missions, and via some of the Gold Coin purchases. The primary purpose of Stars is to increase your VIP level where you can unlock different perks and features.
However, I also found that you can purchase chests and goodies from the Star Store – these include things like the Mystic Scratchcard, the Lucky Lantern, and the Twilight Treasure Chest which start from 250 Stars. These give different prizes including Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins, or gamification features. I really like this system, but the only minor issue I have is that the explanation for the Stars VIP system could be better.
I had a heap of fun creating this Zonko signup bonus review and I think it’s one of the better new sites that I’ve tested recently in terms of bonuses and promotions. It’s not perfect though, and I really want them to up the initial amount of GC you get, plus give you at least 2 SC to start with. The discounted GC packages are some of the best I’ve seen though, especially with the recurring bonuses afterwards, and the prize wheel spins that you can get.
I really liked the Star system too – it gives you a fresh twist on the traditional VIP programs or loyalty schemes that sweepstakes casinos often give, and I think the Star Store is a neat addition.
