It is no secret that Texas Hold’em is one of the most popular forms of poker that you can enjoy online. But to make it a promising experience, did you know you can also try it in sweepstakes casinos today?
Yes, when you play at sweepstakes casinos, you can play Texas Hold’em for free and redeem your Sweepstakes Coins winnings for cash prizes once you meet the relevant requirements. Don’t worry, my friends, if you are confused, as I have compiled this guide to explain everything, including details of two of my favourite sweepstakes sites to play Texas Hold’em
The popularity of Texas Hold’em poker stretches decades, and everyone loves the game for the easy gameplay. The game is simple, and the objective is to have the best hand when it’s time to show cards. You can also win if you get other players to fold. However, when you play Texas Hold’em online, you don’t play against other players, just against the dealer, and the dealer always enters the showdown round and does not fold. While this may seem confusing right now, don’t worry. You will get a better understanding of the game below as I share how the cards are ranked, as well as the rules and gameplay.
A popular poker game is Texas Poker Party, and even though there is no real money gaming, you cannot play Texas Poker Party if you don’t understand the card rankings. The same applies to any Texas Hold’em game variant, and remember, I mentioned that everyone enjoys Texas Hold’em for the simple gameplay; well, the card rankings are very easy to understand. A standard Texas Hold’em game is played with a 52-card pack with four suits of Spades, Clubs, Diamonds and Hearts. Each suit has 13 cards ranked from highest to lowest (Ace to 2).
Below is a table of how the poker hands are ranked:
| Texas Hold’em poker card rankings | Card details |
| Royal Flush | Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten of the same suit |
| Straight Flush | Five consecutive cards of the same suit |
| Four of a kind | Four cards of the same rank |
| Full House | Three of a kind plus a pair (three cards of the same rank + one pair) |
| Flush | Five cards of the same suit |
| Straight | Five consecutive cards of any suit |
| Three of a kind | Three cards of the same rank |
| Two Pair | Two different pairs (two cards of the same rank + two cards of the same rank) |
| One Pair | Two cards of the same rank |
| High Card | When none of the above hands are formed, the highest card determines the ranking |
If you enjoy playing Baccarat, you had to first learn how to play Baccarat before becoming good at the game. The same principle works for Texas Hold’em poker, and before jumping into the game, you have to know how a typical game works. I have already shared how the cards are ranked, and now it is time to unpack the gameplay. Below is a breakdown of a standard Texas Hold’em game:
There are two blinds: a big blind (double the amount of the small blind) and a small blind, and these are the first two players on the dealer’s left. The blinds are the first play amount used for a Texas Hold ’em poker game. After the blind play amount is added to the pot, the dealer deals two face down cards to each player. Then, all players at the table must decide to call, raise or fold.
After every player has decided, it is time for the flop where the dealer deals three face up community cards. Another decision round occurs with all active players in the game, and they must decide to call, raise or fold.
After the flop, the fourth community card is dealt, called the turn. Another decision round takes place before moving on to the final round.
The fifth and final face up community card, called the River is dealt. The final decision round occurs, and whoever is left in the game enters the showdown and shows their cards. The player with the best hand wins the play amount pot.
If you enjoy playing at the best sweepstakes casinos, you can play free Texas Hold’em poker online. Gold Coins are used when playing for fun, and you can get GC with most bonuses and promotions, plus optional GC purchases. You use Sweepstakes Coins when playing in sweepstakes mode. You can get free SC with some bonuses and promotions.
As shared, you can win real money prizes when playing online Texas Hold’em poker at sweepstakes casinos. SC winnings can be redeemed for cash prizes once the relevant requirements are met.
